From Biomedical Engineer, to Surgical Imagery to Owner of Hoffbrau Concert Venue & Restaurant, Ken Harrell is making his dreams of being a Rock Star a reality at Hoffbrau, located at our Brookhill V Shopping Center in Westminster, CO.  

Born into a family of medical professionals, Ken was destined for a career in the medical field from a young age, despite his talent and passion for music. Ken graduated with a degree in BioMedical Engineering and went into the family business of Surgical Imaging where he sold and trained surgeons on Surgical Imaging Equipment. Ken lived up to the expectations of his family but his heart was in his music. His true passion was rock and roll and he was a talented bass guitarist. His dream was to be in a rock band, but with financial and social pressures, he continued his Surgical Imaging business for 30 years, meanwhile his heart remained in rock and roll.

Hoffbrau, originally founded in 1946 in Texas, launched their first location in Colorado in 1986, and 5 additional locations were established. Hoffbrau was Ken’s favorite local restaurant and sports bar but the Denver restaurant and brewery scene was saturated and the competition was fierce. When Ken found out Hoffbrau was in trouble, he knew just what the bar needed to thrive, and it was just what he needed too, to join the Denver rock scene. 

Ken purchased Hoffbrau in 2006 and began to book local bands and differentiate Hoffbrau as more than a sports bar and restaurant, but a place to rock out to live music. The live music was a huge success and Hoffbrau outgrew their restaurant space quickly. After expanding 3 times,  Hoffbrau moved into our Brookhill V Shopping Center in 2015. In the back of the restaurant Ken built a concert venue equipped with a large stage, professional lighting and sound equipment, a second bar and room for dancing. Hoffbrau now features the top local and national bands and dominates the Rock scene in Westminster, CO. With sports and a delicious restaurant menu in the front and hopping concert venue in the back, Hoffbrau is thriving and is known as the leading live music venue in Westminster.

In 2016 Ken officially sold his Surgical Imaging Equipment business and sank his heart into his concert venue. Ken is living his Rock Star dreams at Hoffbrau and is even looking to expand the concert venue, which is packed every weekend with 100+ patrons lined up out the door.
